Re: Boots for narrow feet

I know this is an old thread, but I also know there are those of us with narrow feet for whom Google still digs it up. So I want to mention that ever since Dunham stopped making narrow Waffle Stompers (the only hiking boot that has ever fit me), the only thing I've been able to find is that LL Bean ...

Re: Suggestions for 4-5 nights, similar to Eagle Cap?

Karl, thanks for the link to the great TR. Yeah, that looks hairy. I know there is no way my hiking buddy would do it, and the photos give me second thoughts.

Re: Suggestions for 4-5 nights, similar to Eagle Cap?

A special permit is required if you enter or exit via the Obsidian Trail. My understanding (which may be faulty) is that you don't need one if you enter/exit from the Deschutes NF side. Thanks, Granny. You've answered a question I was going to post. Maybe. Can somebody confirm that a special day-us...

Re: Suggestions for 4-5 nights, similar to Eagle Cap?

Thanks Beaverdawg and Allison. Mt. Margaret backcountry is a new one for me, I'll look into that. This entry at summitpost http://www.summitpost.org/mount-margaret-backcountry/565462 calls the Whittier Ridge "a fun scramble!" Hey Allison, based on your past experiences, any idea how that ridge compa...

Thanks Kelly. Goat Rocks was on the radar, although I neglected to mention. Appreciate the thumbs up, you're the second person who has recommended. And Dean, I would happily go back to the Wallowas anytime, but looking for a shorter drive from Portland this year.

Re: Suggestions for 4-5 nights, similar to Eagle Cap?

Thanks, Jerry. I like the Three Sisters idea a lot. But I'd still welcome more ideas from others, even if they end up being future trips!

Suggestions for 4-5 nights, similar to Eagle Cap?

Hi Everybody-- Looking for suggestions for a mid-August 4-5 night backpack. To give you an idea of what I'm up for, last August did part of the lakes Basin in Eagle Cap (TR here: http://www.portlandhikers.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13179), and the summer before the Enchantments up by Leavenworth,...

Re: West Fork Wallowa, Ice & Frazier Lakes 8/20/12 - 8/24/12

The black plastic cap for the iso-butane can, that I thought I lost at the campsite, was found in a jacket pocket on 10/16/12. Score 1 for LNT.

Re: West Fork Wallowa, Ice & Frazier Lakes 8/20/12 - 8/24/12

When I created this TR, I was limited to uploading 15 photos, so I left out some things I wanted to include. I'm seeing that other TRs have lots more than 15. What's the secret?
