Winter backpacks?

Hello everyone! Does anyone have any good thoughts for a nice overnight into winter time? Maybe a nice snowshoe to camp for a night? It's trickier to think of a good place to go during the winter than it is in summer... btw, we ARE experienced in camping in the snow, so that's not as much of an issu...

Re: PCT Closure in Jeffy Park, Looking for a new ~7 day trip

We are in the same position. We were going to start at the Santiam Pass trail access and end at Timberline. I was holding out hope that they would have everything under control and reopen the trail, but that doesn't look promising. I'm thinking of taking a shorter trip and just starting at Olallie o...

Re: Randomly getting logged out

This happens tome constantly. Many times I can not even get a single reply posted. Constantly asking me to log in, and immediately not being able to post.

Re: Backup plans?

The weather is still looking pretty good, so I expect that we're going with it unless some freak storm comes by... At this point in September, are there generally still snow fields on top of Park Ridge? I've only ever hiked through towards the end of July or early August. So I've always had to cross...

Re: Backup plans?

I'm planning on keeping tabs on the weather, but I will rue the day if something happens and I don't have a backup plan....I'll be in the doghouse for sure.

Backup plans?

Hello! My wife and I are planning to take a weekend soon and head into the Mt Jefferson area. We're looking at the weekend of Sept 16-18. Likely take a day trip into Jeff Park, and whatever else that we can think up. I was looking at the weather, and it looks like it is snowing right now, and may be...

Re: Elk Cove conditions

Good to know. I am not a fan of continually climbing over blow down. A few is ok, but it soon gets old fast.

Elk Cove conditions

Hello all! I was wondering if anyone has visited Elk Cove recently and what the current conditions on the trail looks like. I am thinking of taking my wife out there for a weekend, and was wondering. I had originally thought of going to the Olallie area and finding a lake, but then this popped into ...

permits needed? Olallie area.

So, looking around I am seeing some conflicting information. Nw forest passes. Is there a comprehensive list of where passes and permits are required? I've looked at a couple of sites that have nothing listed for the loop around Olallie lake and surrounding areas, but I've also seen sites saying tha...
