Re: Huckleberries

I am embarrassed to admit that I've never gathered huckleberries before. What do I need to know to get started? Are there any look-alikes that are dangerous? How long do they keep once picked, i.e. do I need a cooler to get them home? I lay them out on a cookie sheet and freeze them. Once froze I s...

Re: Huckleberries

Thanks you guys, looks like I'll be waiting for a few more weeks. My favorite places are up in the Oregon gorge hills but probably not accessible now.

Great report. I was up there yesterday. You're lucky you finished before the smoke arrived.

Re: 2015 Berry Thread

Went up to Nesmith a few days ago and picked 3 or 4 pounds of berries. Not near as good picking as last year. Berries are smaller and more sparse. Took me 4 hours of picking to get what I got. They seem to be a bit more tart too.

Re: Mt Rainier NW - Spray Park and Golden Lakes

Great report. Also, happy birthday!

I'm heading up to Rainier tomorrow morning for a cw loop. I'm hoping to get Golden Lakes as my first campsite.

Re: Timberline Trail, June 17-20, Trail Notes No Pics

I headed out in the ccw direction from Timberline on Wed. morning. I must have missed you. I was running/hiking alone. Congrats on your trip. I'm sure that must have been really special with your daughter.
