Lemei Trail->PCT->Cultus Creek Trail->Road Loop 11-3-19

Forecast was stunning for the late fall, so my buddy and I planned to get one last crack of running in the wonderful Gifford Pinchot. Parked and started at the Lemei Trail and saw more people than we expected throughout the day, a few different groups of hunters (all friendly), a pair of backpackers...

Found: Warby Parker Hayden glasses on Fox Glove Trail / Angel's Rest

While hiking on the Fox Glove trail above Angel's Rest yesterday, looked down and found some tortoise shell, presumably prescription glasses. Warby Parker Haydens. Lenses still look in decent shape. If yours get in touch and I can get them back to you.

I strongly encourage you to join attend a TKO member meeting and volunteer yourself to the executive committee. The demands on a volunteer org. like TKO are unimaginably vast.

Re: Missing hiker on the Timberline Trail

The White River crossing is confusing, and if you look at it on google maps, you can see how a confused/unfamiliar hiker might have ended up climbing up an internal ridge instead of fully crossing to the other side. My heart goes out to his family. I'm finding it hard not to feel frustrated by his p...

Coldwater Lake to Johnston Ridge Run/Hike October 11 2018

I've been planning on doing a large hike to take in most of Mt. Margaret backcountry in a single day for a couple years now, but my friend wasn't feeling up for the full 24 miles, so we decided on this 14 mile teaser instead. Got a good start up to St. Helens with bikes on the car and dropped them o...

I'm a white, cis, male, I'd like to offer advice to the other white, cis, males who are feeling anxiety or confusion over this conversation. First, please try to recognize that by being a cis, white, male, you carry an enormous amount of power, yes, privilege, in all of your social encounters. Privi...

Re: Silver Star 7.7.17 via Ed's Trail

Just adding my 2 cents on the horrid state of road 4109. Tried to go up today in my Subaru Outback and couldn't get past the "Ditch of Doom". The angle and deepness of the ruts kept popping one of my wheels of the ground when I was trying to crawl through, despite several approaches. We had our youn...

Re: Bikes in Wilderness area ban could be lifted...

I've gotta say, I'm delighted with how civil and open everyone has kept this conversation. I feel like the split between mountain bikers and hikers/backpackers is often framed as two diametrically opposed groups pushing against each other. I count myself in both camps, I love hiking and backpacking ...
