take Lolo Pass road as far as you can. They plow it sometimes.

then use snowshoes to walk towards Ramona Falls, Burnt Lake, etc.

I've panned for gold with similar results, a few flakes. I got a book of places to find gold in Oregon and found a few places to go with nice camping. If the objective was finding nice places to camp, it was a success. Places that buy gold coins will buy your gold, but I'm guessing you won't get mor...

I remember going to Sweden Mine and Lang Mine in 1970. Mining relics. I don't remember the mines though.

Post eruption those trails are gone, but you could probably find them if you looked around.
