Thanks. I tried it. That works. You didn't break anything :)

Good idea Jett. The field guide is a community project.

Re: Add NOAA weather links?

I use the slightly different https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-122.79912471771239&lat=45.40893562358633#.ZB4OQHbMLIV This includes a small map that you can pan and zoom to any location, then click on it, and it will give you a weather report for that location. You don't have to know the...

Yeah, there is a macro "maplinkinfo" that's used for (most) every location that gets the latitude and longitude. There must be some way to have it also put the l...

They always run away from me, I have now become quicker getting my camera out. The most reliable place ...

Re: Headed to Oregon soon(ish)

welcome

if you watch for trip reports here, and look at the field guide (click on "field guide" above) there is a lot of good info

I think all your equipment will work just fine. Possibly you would need a better raincoat. Some of us have a problem with buying more gear though.

A few years ago the gate to Elk Creek campground was close, so I parked outside the gate which is visible from hwy 6, so I was a bit paranoid about break-in...

Re: spring camping & hiking 2.5 hours from Portland?

Good idea, I should add Elk Creek. I assume you're talking about between Portland and Tillamook. I haven't done that in a while. Are there car break-ins there in your experience? Is the gate open to the campground? I see just peachy and bobcat have added some stuff - that's what's great about the fi...
