Re: Hi friends!

I don't want to disturb environmentally sensitive areas

North of Rocky Butte there are caves in the cracks of the basalt columns, near "the grotto" which I think is another such cave

Re: Perry South Campground - Reviewing ALL 63 Sites & Boat Ramp/Dock!

I've only walked a short distance from the "Oregon Hoodoo Trailhead" or "Metolius Overlook Balancing Rocks Overlook" on Gaia.

Now, I'm going to have to walk further to see it the next time I'm there, thanks

if you're thinking the cove palisades, the only open loop is the first campground. Yeah, RVs. But, it's a place to stay.

Re: Perry South Campground - Reviewing ALL 63 Sites & Boat Ramp/Dock!

I've camped at the upper part which has fewer people

In the winter, they close the gate to the upper part, and lock all the bathrooms except the one closest to the lake

There are some faint use trails, and you can really walk in any direction because there isn't a lot of ground growth

Re: Full Monty Campground Review :)

from the "looking down from the ridge" photo, it looks like most of the trees down below near the water where the campground is was spared, although you see occasional trees down there that are burned

up above, including driving in, was heavily burned

ahhh... those tricky guys. I just glanced at it. Of course, web crawlers would see it like a normal link. I will now have to look closer the next time.

I removed that user but left this post for entertainment

I wonder why people post something like that. No links to other websites or anything...

Re: Full Monty Campground Review :)

there is evidence of that fire but it's not obvious there's an unmarked trail that goes up above to a ridge. The fire is more obvious there. And the road in. but I don't think it's bad enough to not go there. It's mostly recovered. looking down from ridge: monty2024c.jpg in the campground: monty2024...
