Re: Waldo Lake dispersed campsites

type 2 fun?

I've done some canoe camping trips before. On lakes. Yeah, waves can be a problem. I bet a kayak would be better.

Re: Timberline Trail around Mt Hood conditions?

That's probably a better plan

That crossing of the Sandy is where someone died in September after heavy rain, so be careful. After the weekend the weather should be better.

Re: Goat Rocks

I have a 4 liter Platypus bag. 8 pounds when full of water. A good amount for one day. I'll carry that a mile or two if needed. Another strategy is to carry maybe 1.5 liters of water. That's enough for the evening. Then, in the morning, get up and walk to a water source where I'll have breakfast.

Re: Goat Rocks

Yeah, Goat Lake busy area, don't camp there.

Besides, it's wide open so no privacy. And very windy.

Between Goat Lake and Snowgrass Flat has lots of great camp sites

Re: Goat Rocks

It was about 10 miles longer, but half the miles of unpaved and nothing as rough as 2329 is" google maps is a great tool but the hu...

I just noticed there is supposed to be 4 inches of rain over the weekend. That could cause streams to swell to dangerous level. People have died in september in similar condition.

Be careful

Re: Timberline Trail around Mt Hood conditions?

https://www.nwrfc.noaa.gov/weather/10_day.cgi rainy (snowy?) weekend. Starting next Monday it's better but still rainy I did it a couple weeks ago. Clockwise from Ramona Falls TH. Eliot and Newton I had to walk through, maybe calf deep or so. Not too bad except my boots got wet. I took off my socks ...

Re: Mt. Adams High Camp, Sept. 10-12, 2021

crossing those two creeks while on the round-the-mountain trail is difficult

not too difficult if you get your boots wet
