To me, Rogue is a winter trip. Yeah, it's almost deserty. Hot in summer.

It's downstream from Grants Pass/Medford which get very hot in the summer. Maybe Rogue gets a little more ocean influence so a bit cooler.

I did the wild rogue side trail about the same time and got several ticks : ( there are a number of other side trails but I don't think there are any other loops you can go to the Whiskey Creek cabin, and then continue up from there on closed roads. as everyone knows

after a fire it's unstable for a few years

even if a trail is currently clear, trees will fall over it

it makes some sense to leave trails in heavily burned areas closed for a while

or, it's financially conservative to have a reserve fund in case funding is lower for one year

they've now accumulated about 2 years worth of expenses, maybe that's unnecessarily large
