Re: Nick Eaton Ridge-Gorton Creek Loop, 6/28/23
Thanks for the TR, it’s great to see this loop getting some use. A small team of us have been working on the blowdown in that area since late April, with the hope of getting the entire loop cleared by the end of the season. There are several blowdowns that will require crosscut teams, unfortunately,...

Re: Trail Friends Of Gorton Creek - Ragtag amateur hour
Woohoo!! There were like 70 trees across the trail when I scouted that section a few weeks back. Thank you and good to see it so clear!

Re: 2021 Bug Conditions Reports
I assumed the gorge would be dried up too much for mosquitoes, but on Benson Plateau yesterday, they were ferocious. I didn't have too much trouble when I was running, but stopping at all immediately resulted in 8 or 10 on me.

Thanks for the info. 26 trees is... thick, but maybe not as bad as what I recall from the last time I was there.

Re: Mt. Hood Barret Spur (again!) 08-31-2019
Lovely report. One of my favorite places on the mountain. Just curious, what trail did you approach by? I used to approach from the Elk Cove trailhead (less forest road driving than Vista) but the blowdown in 2016 was so intense that I haven't been back via that approach. If you took Elk Cove or Pin...

Don-
That's really good to hear. I suspected the damage might be short but feared that it was closer to 2 miles than half a mile. I will have to get back in there with more daylight and a GPS. I'm hoping to get some of the smaller brush up there cleared before the weather totally turns this year.

Gorton Creek 08/22/2019
On Thursday August 22, a friend and I hiked part of the upper Gorton Creek trail, up to point 2936, about half a mile past Deadwood Camp. Gorton is reasonably clear up until it gains the ridge about 0.5 miles past Deadwood Camp, at roughly 2930'. Beyond that point, the trail goes from faint to nothi...

You brought cherries to the orchard! I approve of your beer puns. Well-played.

Re: Indian Creek Fire -- Wahtum Lake closure
You could also consider coming down Herman Creek instead of PCT. That trail crosses tons of creeks and is very pleasant.
