Deuter Kid Comfort 3 - like new!

I bought this a couple years ago at REI. (They still sell them; price for a new one is $299.) It's been on 2 day hikes, so it's in pristine condition. Great carrier for little ones. I'm asking $120 if you pick it up in Hillsboro. I can deliver it in the greater Portland metro area, but I'll ask for ...

Re: Ramona Falls - Paradise Park Loop 8/25-26

Is getting there 9am early enough, you think? From what I've read, the crowds thin out at Zigzag canyon. I can deal with hiker traffic though, as long as it's not as bad as the short hike up to Multnomah Falls (the worst!) or Eagle Creek on a hot summer weekend (that was tolerable, considering what...

Re: Not Good !! Hantavirus outbreak in Yosemite

Here's a less sensationalized account: http://www.cdc.gov/hantavirus/outbreaks/yosemite-national-park-2012.html Rodents in Curry Village? Shocker! :P Seriously though, I do sympathize with the 4 people who contracted the virus. And it's a good reminder to us all to be careful around areas where mice...

Re: Ramona Falls - Paradise Park Loop 8/25-26

Thanks, Krystle & Karl! Krystle - It's definitely worth a trip, and I think going from Timberline is the least painful (both in terms of TH access & mileage/EG) way to go. If you can go on a weekday, I'd highly recommend it. Otherwise, maybe hit the trail super-early on Saturday to beat the crowds a...

Re: Ramona Falls - Paradise Park Loop 8/25-26

Thanks, Tom. :) Say... do you recognize that waterfall? The later one, across the Sandy but up high, maybe? Or maybe it wasn't across... shoot. The little grey cells aren't what they once were. :? I'm hoping somebody will, otherwise I'll have to hike back up there again and pay closer attention.

Re: Ramona Falls - Paradise Park Loop 8/25-26

Thanks, Hannah! I always get carried away with sunset & sunrise pics. I guess the silver lining to that is the more I take, the better the chance that maybe I'll end up with one that's halfway decent. :P We used to say (back in the days before digital) that if you got one or two good shots per 36, t...

Re: Vista Ridge to Elk Cove - August 20

I just finished reading your blog entry, and I laughed out loud at your wrong turn down that gravel road... I made the same mistake myself 5 weeks ago! I followed it all the way to the end before realizing I was in the wrong place (and my truck has the scratches to prove it).

Great blog & fabu pics!

Re: Ramona Falls - Paradise Park Loop 8/25-26

Finished dinner shortly after the sunset show was over, so I crawled into my bag and waited for sleep to come. It didn't take long, but it was a very windy night, so I woke up several times from the sound of my tent walls disagreeing on which direction they should be moving. The smell of the smoke f...
