Re: Early Timberline Trail Attempt

My anecdotal method of determining the earliest time that the trail is reasonably doable (though not snow free) was 7/6/18 and 7/7/19, so if snow is similar this spring Is say that’s a reasonable early date (IMHO)

Re: Tigard – Beaverton forays, January 2020

Thanks bobcat for the details. That’s a very interesting plan you linked to. I actually found it this morning and ran the entire network of trails to explore. I never realized that field wasn’t private property so I never even considered going across it. What a great find! I’m definitely incorporati...

Re: Tigard – Beaverton forays, January 2020

Cool! I live right near the Ascension Trail so that’s kind of my home-turf hike/run I go on all the time. It’s incredible to have close access to that in the heart of the suburbs. I take it up to Sunrise Park and the trails in there and then down the Goat Trail (abandoned road) down to Menlor and ba...

Re: Chinidere and Tomlike - 12/25/19

I did the Tomlike version of this a couple of springs ago with snow still around approaching from Herman Creek on the other side. I had similar views from Tomlike. I need to do that one again.

Re: GAIA and snow depth

I’ve had the same less than helpful experience. On a plus note, they just launched the new map set that is a partnership between the famous map maker halfmile on the PCT working with Nat Geo to have their new PCT map set layer. It’s $165 worth of maps for free as a layer on Gaia (with the premium su...

Re: TKO spam

I went back and found the email. It said this at the bottom...

"You are receiving this email because you opted in to receive messages from the Trailkeepers of Oregon."

I don't recall if or when I did this, but it's there...for whatever that's worth. Maybe when I donated the first time??

Re: TKO spam

I'm not a mod and I got it too. ;) I wasn't replying due to the issue of the spam, it was due to my intrigue in the reaction to the spam. That was getting more into the realm of entertainment than concern...which is much higher on my list of priorities. :D All kidding aside...I'm sure you're correct...

Re: TKO spam

Isn’t it within their rights to send email to us since we do business with them by using this site? Regardless of the answer to that question, I find it ironic that people are using the free resources of this site, that is provided and paid for by TKO, to complain about TKO. Out of all the things co...

“Old and fat” haha. I guess the old comment could apply, yet we’re young at heart.

Re: strange ice formation at edge of lake

Is that the edge of the entire pond? I can’t tell for sure in the pic. Could it be spring fed with an exit that is blocked and it freezes on top before it gets to/falls off the side?
