Re: Goat Rocks Lily Basin Monday July 22 - Wednesday July 24, 2019

I will follow up with the rangers on the campsite- it is clearly a used site with spots for tents and a fire ring, and a path to get to it, but it doesn't look like it gets used much. Not sure if it is official or if it has been turned into one by crowds. There was no sign on the path saying to avoi...

Herman Creek to Pinnacles 8/7/2019

Quick day hike along this route: https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Herman_Creek_Pinnacles_Hike As noted elsewhere, the fire hit the lower story of this area, though much of the higher canopy was intact. Early growth ground story of wall lettuce, poison oak, Oregon grape, vanilla leaf, pathfin...

Cape Sebastian plant

A Cape Sebastian Unidentified [not yet] Flowering Object. I went through my Coastal Plants and Turner references but had no luck. Anyone? It was located south of Gold Beach on the Cape Sebastian hike to Hunters Cove. Near to the beach, in the forest. Great hike by the way! Tons of wild iris in full ...

Re: A Smokey, Beautiful Goat Rocks Weekend (Sep 14-16, 2012)

Hiya Texas BB. I've used these forums frequently over the years but never posted. We met you up on top of Old Snowy (and Hawkeye Point) and I wanted to thank you for the recommendation to hike Coyote Ridge. My friend and I ran it and it was the highlight of the trip, among many. While the smoke was ...
