Re: The Memaloose Hills and Social Media
This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like this discussion is pretty one-sided so another viewpoint might shake things up. This sounds a lot like toxic gate-keeping to me. "I found this place a long time ago, and now I'm claiming it as mine. Only the special people I deem worthy may e...

Re: April 18/19 Backpacking Trip...any suggestions?
There's the Wilson River Traverse https://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Wilson_River_Traverse_Hike , but that's the only one I'm aware of. The Coast range up North is such a patchwork of public and private land that it's really hard to put together a multi-day trip without trespassing. You'd be a...

Re: April 18/19 Backpacking Trip...any suggestions?
The Deschutes isn't that far actually. I mean, it is to the section of the river by Bend, but the River flows North into the Columbia and there's a trail head just past the Dalles. It's only about an hour and a half drive from Portland. If you wouldn't mind the desert rather than the forest it's a g...

Keep Oregon Green - Smokey the Bear License Plate
Keep Oregon Green is working with the DMV to create a Smokey the Bear License Plate. If 3,000 people buy vouchers it'll become a reality. I thought some folks here might be interested. More details here: http://keeporegongreen.com/smokey-bear-license-plate/

Re: Vandalism on Palmateer Trail #482
I was going to say I hiked Boulder Lakes this last Saturday and saw similar markings, but Cheryl beat me to it. Also there were a lot of hunters up there so be safe and wear hunter orange when hiking this time of year.

Re: Eagle Creek Clackamas Access?
Yes, the road is open. I did this a few weeks ago. The loggers didn't regrade the road and there are some huge dips. We got through in a subaru but it might be harder after some days of rain. The trail is in good shape. Do you think after two weeks of hot, dry weather I might be able to make it in ...

That's okay. It just means that it's less likely I'll run into a ton of people on my trip.

Re: Harvey Road Trailhead
Thanks for scouting! As my car is tiny I don't think I should brave that road. I guess I'll be hiking in from the Douglas Trailhead. I found out from this trip report that it adds ~4.7 miles (depending on how far it is from the Harvey Road TH to the Douglas-Eagle Creek Junction): http://www.oregonhi...
