Check out the video of the Eliot stream crossing in the post. Challenging but doable.

Timberline Trail 7/11 2021
https://higheredtechtalk.files.wordpress.com/2021/07/baldmtnview.jpeg Yes, the Timberline Trail is the finest loop trail in America and my fifth year in a row trekking around it was another epic adventure. The bottom line though is that this trail is tough and my old body struggles to pull it off. ...

Re: Paradise Park Snow Report: 6/23/21
Thanks for the report. I am starting my annual Timberline Trail Trek on July 11. It will be interesting to see how much snow will melt by then especially due to this heat wave.

Re: Timberline Lodge to Paradise Park, 6/23/21
Thanks for the trip report. It looks fairly normal to me except for the downed trees, but I am not surprised. This heat wave will take it toll on the snow levels. Two years ago I started out on June 17th https://adventurecontinues.org/2019/06/21/timberline-tr-attempt-june-2019 to do the Timberline T...

Re: Looking for a Spring Backpacking Trek
Well, you could go right next door and check out the Illinois river. Thanks, just watched Eric's video on the Illinois River Trail https://youtu.be/80obJPhhSc4 which validates the appeal of this area. Unfortunately various fires have hit this area over the last 20 years but the recoveries look good...

Looking for a Spring Backpacking Trek
I am looking for a good 3-5 day backpacking trek for this coming April. Typically in the Spring I have done something on the Rogue River Trail because weather is good enough and it is best to get there before the bugs or heat. I am thinking there must be other good multi-day backpacking Treks in Sou...

Re: I'm Trying to Track Fires/Trails in This Blog Post
Just got this response from the Megan Selvig, Program Director, Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center: We received aerial footage this past weekend that shows all of Jawbone Flats, with the exception of cabin 4, has burned in the Beachie Creek fire. We do not yet have photos of what the state of the trai...

Re: Beachie Creek Fire aerial photos
It looks like Jawbone Flats took a hit but maybe the damage to vegetation is not extensive.

What Trails have been impacted by the fires?
It is still too early for people to get into the burned out areas, but I am hoping to get feedback on what trails were impacted by the recent firestorm. I'm very concerned about the status of the Opal Creek Wilderness and the Bull of the Woods. I'm also wondering about the Mt Jefferson area. It appe...
