Tom, Dick & Harry Mtn 11/4-5/19

My dog, Brook, and I just did an overnighter to Tom, Dick & Harry mountain, and it was as good as it gets. From my perspective the view from TDH of Mt Hood and the many other mountains to the north is a backpackers treat. Clear skies is a must but getting comfortable temperatures in November was mor...

Re: 2019 Snow Level

The weather inversion we have been in for a few days is dramatic up there. It was near 60 at the top of TDH when I came down today.

Backpacking the Lofoten Islands of Norway

https://higheredtechtalk.files.wordpress.com/2019/07/lofotenpan-2.jpg Many years ago I saw photos of this amazingly beautiful place called the Lofoten Islands in Norway. I have recently returned from backpacking through this beautiful land and it was amazing. Here is my Trip Report: https://adventu...

Would you say its relatively clear of snow and safe to hike from Timberline to Paradise Park?
The trail to Paradise Park may still have a couple of snow hills on the trail, but not bad.

Re: Early Timberline Trail Attempt

Hi Greg, Your photo of that waterfall brings back a great SAR story from June 2017. Two young ladies from Oklahoma were NOBO on the PCT, hoping to go from TLL to White Pass. After leaving the Paradise Park area and heading down to Ramona they missed the first hard left turn and inexplicably thought...

Re: Early Timberline Trail Attempt

Opening pic is fantastic. Had a little trouble placing it, but then realized I went to the bottom of that waterfall last year. Possible I've never been on that section of trail though. So how did you get to that waterfall. The photo is taken from the trail coming down from Paradise Park. But that a...
