Foot deep snow on the entire stretch of the Pioneer-Indian Trail up Mt Hebo the last half mile or so to the road crossing which would be more or less 2,500'. FAR more than would be expected.

So there's been a substantial logging project underway on Mt Hebo and from just past the mile mark at the grassy road crossing where you get to the little mini-lake up to the road has been really changed. Damn, good job. There was a lot more snow than I expected too. I would've never made it to Burnt Lake with no snowshoes based on the conditions going to Ramona Falls.

There's probably exceptions somewhere (if there are residences maybe) but I don't think any forest service roads get plowed once you've crossed into fs lands.. I remember meeting Gene on Burnt Lake trail when he was removing flagging he had put up when it was snowy :) I would put up flagging myself. If people are going to attempt to cross, better to help them cross at the safest spot. Just my opinion. Snow is tricky. What looks so easy going in looks comp...

If you go approx. 1/2 mile or so past the now washed out spot you should be able to see the little footpath down to the Sandy that's on the other side and will take you right up to the big loop trail junction spot.
