Re: Marion Lake Trailhead conditions..?

I'm trying for Pamelia Lake this weekend, so I'll let you know what I find (unless you already went?).

Re: Rogue River January 23, 2017

My brother and I hiked that loop 4 years ago before they cleared it out. We started on the ridge and hiked downhill to the Clay Hill area the first night. In the morning we backtracked west to Flora Dell Falls, which made for a really nice morning and a fuller day of hiking. We then headed back east...

Re: WA PCT, Sect. K, pt. 1: Glacier Peak

I am actually checking the site every couple days just to see if you've posted the next section. Each post has made me desperately anxious to get out and hike that section of trail and deeply regretful that I am, instead, stuck here on my computer. Maybe next year :)

Cummins Creek Trail and Rock Creek exploration

I live in Florence and have spent quite a lot of time in the northern 3 wilderness areas along the coast. Perhaps the familiarity is why I've been remiss in posting any reports/information. The Drift Creek trails have been pretty well reported on, but Cummins and Rock Creek can be a lot of fun as we...

Re: Obsidian LEA - Little Brother Circumnavigation

Did you guys encounter many bugs along the way? I'm hoping to be in that general area next week for my nephew's first backpacking trip and feel like he'll enjoy it more if he doesn't get eaten.

Thanks. Blue pool should be reachable and it's good to know about the other options, too.

Re: McKenzie River Backpack - Jan 31-Feb 1

That looks like a great weekend trip! I'm hoping to bring some first-timers down that trail in a few weeks. Did you see any potential campsites on the upper half of the trail for hikers getting a late start in the day?

Re: Threemile Lake-Tahkenitch Dunes Loop/ Enchanted Valley 4

We live here in Florence and that Tahkenitch hike is one of our favorites too! This is the first year I've done the Enchanted Valley hike much, but the end of the meadows where the creek becomes a little more mountainous in character is a great destination with kids. Really good photos of both hikes.

Obsidian Loop in Three Sisters Wilderness 7/28-29

A friend and I just returned from a short trip into the Sunshine Meadows area of the Three Sisters Wilderness. The flowers were in full bloom, the creeks flowing, and the mosquitoes were only a slight nuisance (at least for me, they found my friend a little tastier apparently). The Obsidian trail is...

Re: Highly Recommended Hunt's Cove Loop 7/25-7/27

Yeah, the trailhead was packed when we came out on Friday. As for the bugs, I'd call them an issue more than a problem right now. If you stopped in the shade during the morning or evening they would definitely find you. But, we never had any problems while we were hiking and I only got 3 bites with ...
