It was multiple ropes tied together. Several ~100-150ft ropes, a few 300ft ropes, etc.

It is sad when I look on Google Earth for waterfalls and then you find that the land they are on is gated by timber companies and it takes a $300 permit for you to get in there... I am all for private property rights and we need lumber, but it is sad the amount of beautiful land we can't access that...

I've been in SAR for over 5 years in the area. Absolutely they are great, they take the search out of search and rescue. Negatives can be false activation - been deployed many times to find someone only for them to be located at home a bit later. Our team and many of our members use the Delorme/Garm...

Yes!! Safe :). Great news!! Also thank you to a few of the voulunteer crew I ran into near the Franklin Ridge! Very good chance that those three were the team that found the hikers. There were two teams in that area (and two teams up on Larch), so I can't say for sure - but yes, those crews are gre...
