Re: Deschutes Upper Trail - 4-8-22
Thanks bobcat. Duly noted and stored for future reference. I'm an old hiker, but a newbie to critter nomenclature.

Deschutes Upper Trail - 4-8-22
On the 8th, I took my 33rd hike along the Deschutes. Since the docs released me from “foot detention,” I’ve been trying to get out every week, which so far has worked out well. I got on the trail at 7:45, it was chilly but pleasant with the only threat being blustery winds, which proved an accurate ...

Re: Lost Corral Trail - Cottonwood Canyon - 3-31-2022
Thanks Pika. The park seems to be increasing in usage by the RV/motor home crowd, so...? Hard to say about usage over time. Up to this point, from what I've experienced, few of the "campers" head over to try the Lost Corral Trail and stay local to Pinnacles. Obviously they're there longer than my on...

Lost Corral Trail - Cottonwood Canyon - 3-31-2022
To close out March, and my return from foot issues, I traveled down to Cottonwood Canyon to do the Lost Corral Trail, again. This was my 12th LCT hike, so I’ve gotten to know the trail pretty well. Like many trails, most stretches never change, while others look different over time. Some changes are...

Re: Eagle Creek - 3-24-2022
I was a bit surprised so many passed me so early, but the afternoon blitz wasn't so surprising. The numbers I expressed didn't include trail runners, of which there was at least half dozen. In all the times I've hiked there, the afternoon return has been my least favorite part, however, this trip sa...

Eagle Creek - 3-24-2022
Finally got some lower leg injuries healed and found a day to try Eagle Creek for the first time since the fire. Thursday, 3/24, was chilly when I hit the trail at 7:45, but the forecast was for partly sunny - it turned out the partly never showed up; the sunny blazed away around 10:30 and with less...

Congrats on 110 for the year Don. Nice way to close it out to boot. Certainly looks different back in there.

Re: Eastern Gorge Area Alive & Well
Damn... with the river that low at Cottonwood Canyon, you could make a loop with a ford! Probably true, Adam, although during the season when the river is this low, you might run into some issues on the north side of the river where the closures for Eagle nesting is in effect. I did see a lot of sa...

Re: Eastern Gorge Area Alive & Well
Jerry, I thought this WAS your life - great hikes and great posts. Now I have to start rethinking things. Know what you mean about the weather though. Over here we get all excited about a chance to hike in some rain.
