Lots of Snow/Rain in Forecast, bad idea to snowshoe right afterwards?

I have some time off and was looking to hit up some snowshoes either around Bend or Mt. Hood area. Been researching and have some options. However, there is a lot of snow/rain in the upcoming forecast for the next 4-5 days. This may be an obvious question, but assuming road conditions are doable wit...

South Sister 8/18/19

It's been a couple of years since last did this. Decided it'd be a good conditioning hike for a Mt. Baker climb I have the following weekend. Solid views and usual crowds typical for a Sunday. Started 8:30 AM (after oversleeping... meant to start earlier), summited 12:30 PM, and then back to the Dev...

Black Butte 8/17/19 (to lookout)

Just a nice little jaunt the day before a South Sister conditioning hike. Meant mainly to pump up the legs a bit. Quick hike that has some nice views for the moderate effort put in to get to the lookout. Lookout up top was manned at the time. IMG_20190817_164857.jpg IMG_20190817_170710.jpg IMG_20190...

Your report will motivate me to try this again, thanks, beautiful pics.
Actually, your earlier report was the one that made me hold off to go until end of July, so thanks for that.

Seeking 1-2 people for Mt. Baker (via Easton Glacier) on guided climb August 28th

I am beginning the booking process with "Baker Mountain Guides" (https://www.bakermountainguides.com) to do a 2 day climb and summit attempt of Mt. Baker via the Easton Glacier route starting on Monday August 28th. I can pay to do the climb guided private, but if I find at least one other person, co...

Thanks for sharing. I did this many years ago a one of my first backpacks and have fond memories of it. Yes we are truly blessed to be living in the PNW.

Re: Wallowas Super Loop: 8/1/19-8/2/19

Thanks for this. At the time during my backpack, I couldn't figure out where to turn to get to Jewett Lake from Aneroid Lake, and hopefully can figure it out from your post.

I wasn't sure if that long a stretch of good, sunny weather was atypical of that area, or common. I had thought the Wallowas would be drier in general, so wasn't too surprised. Regardless, yes the weather fully cooperating was very nice.

Wallowas 7/28/19 - 8/1/19 : Polaris Pass, Lakes Basin, Eagle Cap, Matterhorn

After many years of living in Oregon, I finally was able to make it to the Wallowas for the first time ever. Was not disappointed. TLDR Summary : fantastic alpine and wildflower scenery as every guide alludes to, lots of bugs, pleasantly surprised with amount of solitude (most likely because was in ...

Re: Wallowa River Loop and a pack goat?

Thanks for the info! Ok, good to know animals probably not recommended for some passes. This is sounding more trouble than it's worth. On another note, are you planning to post a Trip Report soon? I'd like to hear it especially since I'll be heading down and starting the trek around July 22nd. Stuff...
