Re: Two Chiefs trail, east end, access to Greenleaf Falls
Chip, The first section of that road above where it branches off from the road that goes north has long been washed out and completely obliterated. To access the rest of it, you have to walk up the road on the north about 500 feet and at the switchback find an old ATV trail that takes you to a point...

Re: New study on the Bonneville landslide
No oxygen for the fungi that break down the cellular material. When wood is submerged, all of the air it contains is expelled. I've kayaked on Clear Lake off of Hwy 26 south of Santiam Pass. It's amazing to see the trees sticking up from the bottom knowing they were inundated when the lake formed a...

Re: Sword Fern Way
Interesting - I did the same hike on Jan. 21st and the tower was there. I think that was the highest point on the mountain and a good location, so it seems odd if it was relocated elsewhere. I wonder what's going on?

Re: Yamsay Mountain & Hager Mountain 6-22-22
Thanks for the great report and pictures. Both peaks have been on my radar for a while so the beta is particularly welcome since I plan to do both later this summer.

Re: 2022 and Beyond - Snow Levels
Big Hollow Trail to Observation Peak: A few small patches of snow starting at 3400' but never more than that all the way to the summit at 4206'. No mosquitoes! June 26th. How as berry camp? There are conflicting reports of water being available. Was planning on doing Trapper Creek Wilderness Loop i...

Re: West Green Mountain Trail
Is there anywhere suitable at the trailhead or close by to lock up a bike? At the 28th St TH, there's a gate that a bike could be secured to. At the TH's off of Boxwood, there's this: Perhaps a bike could be attached to the sign? IMG_6230.JPG At the other parking area, a couple hundred feet from th...
