Re: Rogue Wolf Loop (2021-06-12)

yeah, same here, I was thinking no-see-um lake wasn't such a good destination I think maybe those are midges that show up right about now. For maybe a month. Maybe the month of July. Small biting flies that aren't deterred by DEET. At 5000 feet elevation or so in the Cascades. The midges are bad en...

Re: Rogue Wolf Loop (2021-06-12)

Thanks for the great TR and photos! This is an area that's intrigued me, partly because of the neat names for many of the peaks in the area. (Devils, Lucifer, Jupiter, Venus) Also, some of the lake names, though mostly a little farther south of the Seven Lakes Basin, are equally interesting. (Tsuga,...

That's where I lost you. I don't see anything that corresponds to that description.

Here's a map that should explain it showing some previous hikes and routes.

Carrying around a chainsaw in an easy access sling on the trail might get you a considerable amount of side-eye and a very wide berth when passing people....
Especially if you leave it running...

Prospector ridge, 060921

The ridge that lies between Prospector Creek and Meander Creek shows a trail on the USGS map and I’ve wondered about it for years. In 2015, after exploring the ridge between the forks of Deer Creek and later, the ridge between Deer Creek and Prospector Creek I went as far as I could down the road th...

Re: Happy Birthday!

Hiking the ridge between Prospector Creek and Meander creek I hit the balloon bonanza today. On the way, I found three along the 2000 Road too, so my take ended up at 14 for the day. That's more than I've found in the past year or more put together. Here are the ones found along Road 2000: IMG_2413....

PCT from near Gobbler's Knob to near Big Huckleberry

Kel and I have been slowly working at hiking all the sections of the PCT that somehow we have missed over the years. We started this project last year with some sections on Mt. Adams and have had a lot of fun doing it. I’m pretty much done with the section from Hwy 26 to the north end of Mt. Adams b...

Re: Snag Creek Trail & Lost Permutations

Very nice and well-written TR! I'm glad the logging trucks didn't get you - those guys can be aggressing at times. Sorry you couldn't continue and do the rest of the trail but you are so right about it being easier - much easier, IMO - to navigate a faint trail in the downward direction. I'll be goi...
