Re: Toleak Point April 14, 2021

Beautiful. Looks like you had good weather - one nice result of our unusually dry April.

Re: Catherine Creek 4/12/21

Yes, I think they have always intended to build a trail on Tracy Hill. Note the map below, wouldn't that be CA3? Most of these trails have actual names now. No, I'm talking about the old 4WD road that leads up from the top of CA3 (I don't remember what they've named it) towards the NFS boundary, th...

Catherine Creek 4/12/21

On Sunday I explored the slopes between Catherine Creek and Coyote Wall. There are abundant Wildflowers in bloom here, and the more widely you range the more species you'll see. Re: disappointing lifespan for shoes

It seems like many complaints here are about lighter-weight boots made primarily with fabric instead of leather. These kind of boots haven't lasted very long for me either, just wearing them around town and working in the yard, and I wouldn't really expect them to stand up to the rigors of hiking fo...

Re: "Brush Creek Trail"

From your description, it sounds like the driving directions in the Field Guide are no longer valid? You can't drive on FR6808 all the way to the TH anymore? The Field Guide gives alternate directions using FR68 from the East. Could you also use FR68 from the West (via FR65 and Wind River Rd.)?

Re: Above the Clouds

That's a great photo. Inversions are fun, when you can get above them.
