Re: Forest Service punches hikers below the belt

Apologies if it seems like we are beating up on you and Bobcat that certainly isn't my or I'm sure anyone else's intent. It's just that you and Bobcat are often the only 2 folks to answer questions about TKO. Official responses from TKO when we ask about TKO's policy towards, permits, parking or ju...

Re: Forest Service punches hikers below the belt

Regarding the TKO board meeting at which the Central Cascades proposal was discussed... Re: Forest Service punches hikers below the belt

Even more sadly, USFS has entered into a divide-and-conquer mentality that takes the organized groups out of the equation and puts individual (non organized) hikers at risk to decisions that likely are outside of their administrative mandate. This, the steps that led to Dog Mtn's fees and restricti...

Re: Forest Service punches hikers below the belt

However, because we use an outfitter/guide permit to operate Mazama programs in the gorge, we are held to different rules. Outfitter/guides are not allowed to take guided groups on Dog Mountain on weekends during the permit period, even if we buy permits. It sounds like that has to do with the guid...

Re: tick removal

I find that Vaseline works great for tick removal. If you bury the tick with any kind of cream, it can't breathe and will back itself out, and then you can extract it easily. Although there is still concern it will spit its toxic fluids as it suffocates, it is unlikely you will detach the body from...

If you liked the Dog Mountain hiking and parking fees, you'll love what USFS has put on the table for the rest of the Gorge.

Remember the outhouses at the Grave Creek boat ramp? You can barely see them in this picture.
Ew. Good thing the solution to pollution is dilution.

Last week I witnessed a particularly stupid road rage incident in the Multnomah parking lot.
Do tell... wait, let me make popcorn first.
