Re: Water Voles in Eden Park?

Many thanks Bobcat, I was hoping you would see this post. I can see now that it was definitely one of the shrew species but I could not tell you which one. I'm temped to go back now and see if I can get a photo. Location where I was watching it. https://photos.smugmug.com/Outdoors-Hikes-Climbs-etc/M...

Water Voles in Eden Park?

I don't have a photo to share because it moved to quickly but I'm hoping someone can confirm my ID or give me another option. I was up in Eden Park on Hood yesterday and besides the many many frogs that call Eden Park home there was a very fast moving small (3-4") rodent swimming in and under the wa...

Re: Ticketed access to HCRH waterfall corridor

2. Even if the FS had the money, there doesn't seem to be any enthusiasm for building trails in areas where people like to hike. I'm guessing this is due to the same preservationist attitude that brought us the familiar exclusionist reading of the Wilderness Act, responsible for the new permit prog...

The no dogs period is typically late March-June. It can, and often does, close during late summer when fire danger is high.
Yeah that's how I remember it but haven't hiked it since 2019 so didn't know if things had changed.
Looking forward to going back.

Burdoin Mt Access?

Does anyone know if Burdoin Mt is open for hiking?
I know it's privately owned but hiking was allowed but that was pre Covid.

Re: Ticketed access to HCRH waterfall corridor

I'm late to the party here, but those of you who know me will know that I don't support this and I'll be open about finding ways to subvert it. I tend to hike these trails on Summer evenings after work as it's close enough to get to by 5:00pm. There was never a problem parking anywhere along the hig...
