Re: NW Forest Pass and Missing Amenities

Another story - they should be able to use NWFP fees to maintain trails, not have to have those amenities. The thing is that when the Forest Service does surveys of facility users, paying for toilet facilities always comes out on top. I don't think it's the most popular thing on this site, but I gu...

Dog Mt. only has picnic table, not picnic tables.
A whole bunch if not most trails only have one picnic table, often just tossed into the trees just so they can require for the pass. examples Mirror Lake, Top Spur, Burnt Lake, Ramona Falls.

Re: Visit the Central Cascades while you still can...

This has all been so very depressing. I'm one of the 44 who objected but with so few objections I'm thinking they are just going to do whatever they want to do regardless of what anyone says. I know that I and others here have also contacted our senators and congressmen over this. I received no feed...

I got one of those too. Unfortunately, all the scheduling options are far from here on weekdays. No way I'd be able to go to one.
Same problem here, but they probably know that!

Lost Lake Access?

Has anyone headed up towards lost lake recently? Just wondering how close you can get. I know they don't plow the roads but sometimes logging keeps the road open for a few extra miles. Thanks.

Re: Does Mirror Lake Trailhead Require a Sno-Park Pass?

the new Trailhead is connected to the Skibowl Lot, they are plowing it to keep it open so it's hard to see how you would not need a pass. the old trail head and an unknown amount of the old trail have been decommissioned.

Re: Govt Shutdown Impact Updates (and ? about Nordic Shelters)

The photo does not make sense though as the bin is empty so if the implication that people were just throwing the trash on the floor it's a false one. It's explained in the link I included. The trash wasn't being emptied so animals got into it and spread it around, then it froze to the ground. A hi...

Re: Govt Shutdown Impact Updates (and ? about Nordic Shelters)

there is no reason for this mess unless USFS deliberately cancelled the service for the duration of the shutdown. News stories about the shutdown frequently emphasize that contractors will not be paid for any work they do during the shutdown and, unlike federal employees, contractors have far less ...
