Re: Oregon Hikers Maps feature is dark

I may be misinterpreting the billing. According to the price chart it says "Free up to 25,000 map loads per day" That's the OLD pricing. Under the new regime, starting last summer, you get 28,000 map loads per MONTH. But you don't really get a fixed number of map loads per month, you get $200 worth...

Re: Oregon Hikers Maps feature is dark

Unfortunately it looks like this is going to eat up the $300 credit they gave me. I'm surprised because the first 25k loads per day are free. We'll have some time to come up with another solution though. I'm going to look to see what is causing it to load so much, just to verify it's normal traffic...

Any plans to get this guy up and running again?

I'm REALLY missing this feature =(

(BTW - I really appreciate the site and everyone's contributions!)
Thanks for the bump on this. I just went in again and the process is working this time. We now have a key and it appears to be working.

Re: Oregon Hikers Maps feature is dark

I was able to make an account, but today it locks up on "Enable Google Maps Platform." Maybe tomorrow.

It's like they WANT us to switch over to Leaflet...
Do you know if it's easy to set a limit with Google so you don't start getting charged? The Maps page doesn't get too much traffic, but I'd hate to get a random bill because a bot was loading the page or something.

Re: Oregon Hikers Maps feature is dark

When trying to add billing to our API key, I keep running into an error. I'll give it another shot later. They really don't make it easy. Yeah, although I'm getting a new error now. For a while it was locking up my browser tab (couldn't even close the tab) and then generating a javscript err...

Re: Oregon Hikers Maps feature is dark

Looks like they are finally forcing us over to using their billing system. I think we'll be OK with the amount of traffic the maps page receives and be able to stay at the free level, so I will add billing to our key.

Re: Post censored without notification or consent

I think it got mistakenly edited. The links/video got wiped. I restored it using what I found on Google cache.
