A time lapse video of Mt Hood, viewed from Lookout Mtn. A gorgeous day hike last weekend, up from Rt 35, over Gumjuwac Saddle to Lookout Mountain.

Re: Vista Ridge & First Look at the Dollar Fire (June 20)
A very interesting post and blog entry. Thanks for taking the time to put it together. On August 26, 2011, when I heard the lightning approaching from the south over Mt. Hood, I jumped out of bed and headed to the Mt Hood view spot on Rt 35 in Parkdale, about 10 miles south of Hood River. This is a ...

Re: Tour du Mont Blanc
WOW! Great pics, and certainly a different style of hiking, but it looks like a blast! Did you see a lot of other tours on the way? A lot of solo hikers? How much did it cost if I may ask? Information, as well as prices, can be found here for the tour company I used. The 2 week hike was remarkably ...

Tour du Mont Blanc
Thought I'd give you a trip report from the Alps around Mont Blanc. I did the Tour du Mont Blanc, which is 125 miles and about 30K ft vertical, over 14 days, and it circles Mont Blanc. A classic hiking loop in the Alps. We started and ended in Chamonix, France, and went through France, Italy and Swi...

Re: Cool Clouds on Hood from Owl Point (Sept 3)
Great video!
Here's my shot(s) of Mt Hood that day (Sept 3), one looking at the north side from Rt 35 in Parkdale, and one from the Mt Hood Meadows parking lot, looking due south at the mtn. Very impressive. The lenticular cloud lasted most of the afternoon.

Re: Killen Creek on Mt Adams 7/25/2010
It was pretty hot, and the guy seemed comfortable hiking barefoot. Yes, those are mountaineering boots - he and his partner were going to try and summit Adams, going the up Adams glacier. He hiked barefoot for the 2 miles we "leapfrogged" with him and his partner. I assume he put the boots on eventu...

Killen Creek on Mt Adams 7/25/2010
DRM and I hiked up to the PCT/Round the Mtn trail on the north side of Mt. Adams on Sunday via the Killen Creek trail. Still quite a bit of snow up there, a beautiful day. There were perhaps 8-10 cars in the parking area when we got there about 11 am First person we caught up to, perhaps a mile up f...
