Re: Duncan Creek & Russ Jolley

I actually opened up 90% of the old R J trail from Hardy Ridge to St Cloud Park on SR14 about 17 years ago. Don would have tracks. Part of it has changed because Archer was out of bounds for him at that time. His trail ran below Archer on the East side. Where you joined the new logging road he turne...

Re: Archer Mountain 4-6-22

The mounds that use to fascinate me are NE of Quiver point. Often felt like digging into them but I did not want to interfere with what may have been a sacred place. Maybe they were survivors of the great Missoula flood from14 k years ago.I’m not able to go up there anymore so it would be interestin...

Re: Duncan Creek & Russ Jolley

I believe the trail you saw coming from the North was the old RJolley trail. He crossed the Creek a bit higher up than the new Bridge crossing. Actually where you picked up the road on the west side is where he crossed the Creek.

Re: Grassy Knoll via old PCT and south ridge

On your bike ride just a short distance from Triangle Pass on a gentle curve, the North end of the CC trail comes out to road maybe 100, 150 paces from TP junction. Trail should be easy to find and was in good shape and easy to follow. Maybe a mile in there are trails going east and west. Should be ...

Re: Discover Pass flier on windshield

I drove by Beacon Rock about 2 yesterday and there were cars nearly 1 mile from the rock. All parking areas were full. There were at least two state troopers there, one at the gate up to Hamilton Trailhead and the other at the ranger station. Unsure if they were directing traffic or something else. ...

One of my Favorite places I've been going in there for 18 Years. Some info. You can find a lot of info on Nellie Corser on line. Her Family lived in the Stone house on14. I've been parking on east side of bridge with no problems. Bus does not come up there anymore. Maybe no kids to pick up. For years...

Re: Table Mountain - alternate route?

If logging company don't have their gate locked you can drive to the PCT near Three Corner rock. You can also drive up Keufler and end up in the same place. 2020 road will also get you to same area.

Re: Hardy Ridge past Phlox, then roads to radio towers

Dick Thomas, Roy Stout, Russ Jolley and other Mazama leaders used to lead a hike from Duncan Creek to a VP very close to Towers. Trees grew up an obscured views so hike was abandoned. I went on one hike and the views were great.

Re: Augspurger Mt from Cook via Can Lid Lane

Another way would b to take Berge for 3 miles, right on logging road to N end of Aug which is an approved trailhead as far as I know. WTA does work on N aug trail so that makes it official enough. Whatever way you go to N, Aug I would wait a few weeks for a good day and the flowers are in bloom. Spe...
