Re: New McIntyre Trailhead Issues

Because of the issues you describe I don't use that trailhead anymore. (For those of you who don't know, this is the one .) Bobcat has updated the trailhead description with a target shooting warning. Unfortunately that area seems to be totally ignored by the Forest Service. Target shooters and OHVs...

Re: Mt. Mitchell "back door" trail may be obliterated

We wanted to get up there in late June to see the beargrass, but the heat dome put a stop to that. We made it up on July 11 for one last visit before they cut all the trees. Looks like the first mile of trail would be affected by the clearcut. What a shame. It's a very nice forest. :( https://live.s...

Re: Bootleg Fire: Gearhart Mountain Wilderness

Dang, I never made it there before the fire. I know fire is a natural part of the forest, but it is disheartening to see our wilderness areas get burnt to a crisp one after another. It feels like more wilderness will be burned than unburned in the next few decades.

Just in case, here is how it works: In the Attachments section below your post click on Add files. Then when it's uploaded click on the Place Inline button, which will insert the image into the body of your post wherever your cursor is.

Are you trying to embed the images from elsewhere, or did you upload them here to the website?

Re: Mt Hood National Forest Blowdown Update

I also found it surprising that the restroom at the Zig Zag RS is usually closed on the weekends when demand is the highest. It was open when we stopped to use it this past Saturday. Were you there early in the morning? I know that because of vandalism it is locked when the ranger station isn't ope...

Re: Bluff Mt Trail to Silver Star, 7/3/21

On the way back, I took FR41 all the way to Sunset Campground. The section of 41 from the intersection with 4109 to Sunset Campground was awful. Huge mud holes. Most of it was dry, so it was doable, but it was VERY slow going. If there had been rain recently I don't think I'd have risked it with a ...

Re: Zigzag Mountain, aka Zigzag Mountian, from west

Thanks for that link. I missed seeing that writeup. Good news about the road improvement but bad news about the logging. :( Sounds like if I were to head up there I should park just before the mudpit and start walking.
