Re: Mt Washington Wilderness June 20-21

Nice, thanks for sharing! We sure had a lot of wet weather in June this year. Blech. I have started keeping a change of clothes, a towel, and a gallon jug of water in my car for when I get back from hiking, so I can make myself feel about 100% more human with about 5 minutes of cleaning, chugging an...

If not for the pandemic, presumably we'd be hiking it now.
Yup, the Forest Service had plans to open it up in the spring and had to abandon those plans because of the pandemic.

Re: Vista Ridge to Elk Cove

One other note regarding driving directions: the field guide page for the Vista Ridge TH says the turnoff from Lolo Pass Road to NF Road 18 is 10.7 miles from Highway 26, but I measured it at 16.7 miles...quite a difference if relying on those directions. Or perhaps I misunderstood the directions? ...

Re: Elkhorn Crest - Summit Lake from Anthony Lakes 8/1 - 8/3/2020

Looks gorgeous! to walk past our camp, see us there, and then carry on unabated shows a high degree of either disrespect or complete ignorance. I generally like seeing other campers around the lake, but these were not good lake neighbors, unfortunately. Ugh, that would have made me so angry I would ...

Re: Barrett Spur Scramble, 8/2/2020

Nice report, and I LOVE those wildflower shots. Yowza!

The one and only time I visited Barrett Spur it was SO SO SO windy, which I know is very common up there. But I wasn't really able to enjoy it because the wind was so very bad.

This was the busiest we've seen at the lake. Including some yahoo-ness (who packs in double air mattresses and glass bottles of booze...)
I've never visited during the height of summer and I always suspected there was yahoo-ness at this time of year.

Re: comet neowise

Saw the comet from the Up Up Lookout in the Lolo National Forest on July 17, 18, and 19. Totally lucked out with the timing. I obviously had no idea about the comet when I booked the lookout back in January!

Re: "Oh Boy Forest Camp" and also alternate Round Lake trail on map

There are a lot of forest camps on old national forest maps, but interesting that you saw that on the gazetteer. Seems like the FS closes more campgrounds as time goes on instead of opening new ones!

I found this: https://www.trailadvocate.org/sf-forum/ ... -boy-camp/

Re: ramona falls trailhead July 2020

what I hate is when people stop to take a break at narrow sections so its hard for people to pass Agree. Also annoying is when groups take a break in front of trail signs at junctions. Sometimes you may not even realize there's a sign behind them, and sometimes you have to ask them to move so you c...

I cancelled my trip to Glacier national park
We did the same. A busy national park seemed like a bad idea, and while we're hoping to reschedule for next summer I have a feeling it will actually be several years before we're able to safely visit.
