Re: Reehers Camp trails 03-26-24
Fantastic, it's a lot of work to keep maps updated. The team does great work. Thanks for the mileage update.

Re: Reehers Camp trails 03-26-24
That's a heck of a route, about how many miles did you do? And did you have a traimap other than the Tillamook County trail map?
Thanks, and nice photos

Great job using your new tool, you certainly captured the beauty and fury of that area. I've been there a number of times and never saw that amount to water flowing (hurricaning, might not be a word) over the cliffs.

Re: HIKING DOG NEEDS A HOME!
Thanks so much for posting this Jerry, very thoughtful. I can't adopt the dog but have passed the info to my neighbors who have lost their dog in the past few months.
I still have Buddy and he's insists on being the main and only dog in the family.
Thanks again for being so caring.

Mosier Twin Tunnels 1.26.23
After reading recent posts on Dog Mountain, Bunker Hill and Alpine Lakes I decided to report on my baby hike (walk) in the Gorge. We started at the Mark Hatfield west trailhead which is just past Hood River. It was a relatively sunny day and less wind than other visits but still pretty strong. My tw...

Re: This is how you kill someone
Squid and all the rest of you who have faced unruly, unleashed dogs with inconsiderate owners are understandably upset. I hike with my dog Buddy, a Cocker Spaniel, and have run into many unleashed dogs but I've been fortunate to NOT meet any inconsiderate owners. Buddy is unleashed most of the time ...

Re: Soda Peaks Lake from west FR-54
Dean, that makes perfect sense. It's such a large area and it appears (given the fire ring) and cleared ground area) that there are a few parties up there. Not sure how that could be rectified but it might see a few more hikers if it were able to be done.

Re: Soda Peaks Lake from west FR-54
We didn't see any debris in the entire parking and trailhead area, which is pretty large. However 2 years ago when I went up there was lots of glass and debris in the area. You may recall there is a campsite to the left as you drive in which has a fire ring and a few logs to sit on. There was no deb...

Soda Peaks Lake from west FR-54
Spda Peals Lake TH.jpg Two old men and a dog hiked this trail from the west the other day. We left Portland and took Hwy 30 (Wind River Road) north to Stabler, then west to Szydlo Rd to FR-54 then northerly to junction of NF-54 and NF-307 (note 307 not marked nor is TH). We found the TH with no pro...

Killen Creek to (near) High Camp
Last Friday 2 friends, my dog Buddy and I intended to hike to High Camp but had a time restraint and only made it about 1/2 mile short of High Camp. Really a beautiful, warm day with a ton of skeeters and then the horse flys showed up. Met about10 people smiling while they swatted insects. On our wa...
