Re: Dry Creek or Observation Peak trail Trapper Creek

Thanks Dean, I'm thinking this Sunday for Dry Creek and maybe add a couple of miles to walk by heading up Observation Trail for a couple of miles, maybe to the falls up there.
Have a great time out there.

Dry Creek or Observation Peak trail Trapper Creek

Quick question, has anyone been out to the Dry Creek Trail lately? Wondering how muddy and/or icy it might be? Same for the early parts of Observation Trail where it takes off from the east side of Trapper Creek trail?

Thanks

Thanks Don and webfoot, I've decided to take my Kahtoola Microspikes with me from now on. I'm one of those cold feet people so walking through streams sounds "chilling" to me.
I appreciate the feedback from everyone.

Re: To the Sunshine Trail (Trapper Creek Wilderness) 12-1-21

Reclining in the current, I slowly took stock of the situation, contemplating the possibility of serious injury. Something tells me it wasn't quite that casual. ;) I've been known to don crampons for log crossings (not carried for that reason, of course). I use micro spikes for wet logs on bushwhac...

Re: To the Sunshine Trail (Trapper Creek Wilderness) 12-1-21

Gee, that's a serious fall and of course one in which you had no control which is seriously frightening. You're a strong fellow to be able to walk back out after the fall and I hope you're okay now - my wife would have insisted on a concussion visit to the doctor. Thanks so much for the update, I ha...

Thanks for the excellent report, really enjoyed reading it. You're pretty brave, starting at midnight by yourself. Your photos were great, really enjoyed them especially the Fasciated Mullein, which I'm not sure I've ever seen.
Looks like another place I need to add to my expanding list.

Re: Sleeping Beauty

Nice report, Dean, it brought back memories of my hike there last year. Hopefully it's not bad form to add some pics since I didn't file a trail report. It's a long drive from Portland to take such a short hike but there's other trails nearby that we hiked. This is a steep hike and as mentioned some...
