Re: Reopening Oneonta Gorge?

Yay, I guess? I complain bitterly about the Forest Service's Central Cascades permits regularly. But a permit to access this Gorge makes a lot of sense. The ecology is kinda rare, the crowds are madness, there is no possibility of a sustainable trail, and the permit restricts only a tiny area, disc...

Re: All of Oregon’s Wildernesses

I'm not sure I'd call it an "accomplishment", but rather a cool thing to do. Well done. I can tell by your follow up comment that you're not trolling! You're pointing out that the word accomplishment has different meanings, and that's valid. I'd like to stick up for the word used in this case: Narr...

Re: Major Expansion of the Mount Hood National Recreation Area Proposed

@Charley -- yes, the Boulder Lakes wilderness additions were designed to keep some key mountain bike trails intact. That was largely the work of Matt Weintraub -- who recently relocated to Nevada for a new job opportunity, a big loss for the Oregon mountain biking community. There are some proposed...

Re: Major Expansion of the Mount Hood National Recreation Area Proposed

I've been quite involved in this on behalf of TKO, and I'm really pleased to see it finally moving forward. This is LONG overdue for our beloved Mt. Hood (and the Gorge). It looks like there are some good ideas in here, and for the hard work, I'm grateful! But... it does look like the proposed Wild...
