Re: Hardy Ridge / Phlox Point Loop Hike - 05.24.17

My sister and I did that hike a couple of years ago, went up the west side of the ridge, counted 7 piles of bear poo. On the way down we counted 8 and my dog was completely on alert the whole time. Never saw the actual bear though.

Re: Missing Kentucky man, vehicle found near Lone Butte

I didn't know where Lone Butte is, but it is north west from Indian Heaven, if he was planning on being gone 2 weeks he could be in Indian Heaven too. Hope he can be found.

Re: A hot afternoon on Chinidere Mountain - 6/7/15

After seeing all the wonderful photos, my daughter and I headed up to Vista Ridge on Tuesday 6/9, I saw all those wilted flowers too and thought the same as you that I'd missed them. We headed on up deciding to try for Elk Cove, at least we'd have a view of the mountain, and of course found the flow...

Partial Ape Canyon Hike 5-22-15

I've been wanting to venture out on some trails I've not done before, so that's my goal this summer to do as many different hikes as I can. I'd hiked from Windy Ridge on Mount Saint Helens a few years ago, but haven't really done any other trails in the area, other than the Ape Caves, which I don't ...

I only made it a little past rock lake as there was a ton of snow I didn't want to trudge over!

Re: Gifford Pinchot N.F. Trail Reports

I just did the Thomas Lake Trail in Indian Heaven yesterday. There were probably 4 or 5 large trees across the trail, but nothing that wasn't easy to get around. I took a couple of photos. Probably 1 1/2 to 2 feet across at most?

Re: Sister Rocks via Observation Peak Trail 4/18/15

Thank you everyone! It would be pretty easy to do in conjunction with the Observation Peak trail too as it's only a little over half a mile off of that trail, so wouldn't add too much mileage. If I hadn't been so tired I might have done both. I'm trying to add trails I've never done before this year...

Sister Rocks via Observation Peak Trail 4/18/15

Decided to give Observation Peak a try and headed to the trailhead mentioned here in the field guides. What I call "The back way" I'd went February 15th with my husband and we encountered ZERO snow so today I was on my own. The trailhead is a 45 minute drive from my home in Carson. The road isn't to...
