Tracy Hill Loop Hike

The hike description says "Pass a small copse of oaks with a memorial plaque." The plaque is long gone (photo attached). Doing the hike counterclockwise, when reaching the lower portion where one would turn left (east) to get back to the road and to the beginning, "someone" has put many dead tree li...

Whetstone Mtn Trailhead

I'd suggest adding the distance of the turn on to FR 7020 from Bagby Hot Springs, as a double check: 1.42 miles.

We missed it, and ended up on 7030, which is much worse and closed midway up. We also ran into another hiker that also went up 7030 by mistake.

Re: Hiking off-trail: Grassy Knoll Gifford Pinchot 4/16/16

Trail Update 5/14/16: The trail gods had gotten to the trail when we went there today. There are 5-6 downed trees on the trail to the Knoll, that are easy to get over or go around, but all of the heavy brush from the downed trees had been cleared. We cut back some brush along the trail, but didn't h...

Wind Mountain - 4/4/15

I just wanted to report that the Trail is in excellent condition on 4/4/15. Yes, there were a couple of slough-offs, but nothing anyone can't handle. Not one downed tree across the trail (from the ice storm a few years back). Kudos to the trail crew on this one! (also the sign at the intersection wi...

Re: Elk Mountain/King's Mountain Loop 8/21

Three of us just did this hike, 9/11/10. Trail is in pretty good condition, except near the Pinnacles, the vegetation is crowding the trail and makes it a little hard to see the trail (which is important there, if it isn't the trail, its the 75% slope, down). Hopefully this winter's freeze will take...

Re: Potato Butte / Red Lake Trail 6.30.09

I and 7 others went on 7/19/09. Sure the trail is a little rocky and you have to watch your step, and the climb up to Potato Butte is on high pitch/loose rocks (walking sticks help), but the view of Jefferson and the swimming in Averill Lake can't be beat. There are some camping spots around the lak...
