Re: Lower Paradise Branch falls
I like the view from above… although the climb out to the edge isn’t for the weary.

Re: Fall explorations in the Gifford, Lost Creek, Dry Creek and unknown bonus
Nice to see the main drops still flowing. Lost normally dries up and rarely comes back on until the spring. I went to Dry 7/1/23 with crumby shooting conditions. The sun and the mosquitoes were plenty I last went to Lost 6/12/22.

Re: Mt. Adams area via Riley trail, Crystal Lake a sad ending for the day
Just recently posted a Riley Creek TR on the off trail feed. The geology is very similiar to the Whychus drainage down in the Sisters Wilderness. Also located some coal like rocks that were intriguing to hold.

All Riled Up
Meet Riley creek. RustyGoat and Melinda located them years ago. I went back a short time later in 2016. Well, this past weekend we had a ball. Easy hiking minus some devils club patches and pretty accessible. No rope required but they do add for some fun. Use the NW waterfall survey for exact points...

Kane and Abel
Meet Kane and Abel. It’s five miles from the small town of The Northwoods at the edge of the Swift Reservoir. This is the second major drainage as you go west from the gated road. A free hiking pass is needed through Rayonier Logging company. For hiking you want to end up gear and you’ll want so goo...

Re: Kwanesum and the falls of Moffett Creek
Hi all, My guess is that there is an illusion of a cave to the left of Kwanesum. Probably an overhang from a leftover cliff band. Most the caves we have around here are lava tubes. The best cagey feature by a waterfall is the one at Valkyrie Falls near Detroit lake. Trials (in Big Creek) and Homeste...

Re: Blockhouse and Little Klickitat Falls
Wayne Jones owns the place. The birding situation out there is A+ too. Send Wayne a text and he’ll give you more details. He asks for people to be respectful and no dogs as he has a big one the roams the land and is territorial over other dogs. Very friendly to humans. +1 (503) 780-7614

Blockhouse and Little Klickitat Falls
Oh, about 3 months ago I called Project Patch to inquire about hiking on their originate land that holds these two falls. To my surprise they had sold it! A nice fellow named Wayne had recently bought it and they gave me his number. I called and he was more than happy to sallow me to come out to see...

Re: Fall Creek / Armstrong Creek Falls
Haha. That’s Melinda. Her and Tim are some off trail legends. Not all of my trips involves the canyoneering gear. This trip was mostly hiking and getting up on my feet after recently getting hit by a car while riding my bike in downtown Portland.

Fall Creek / Armstrong Creek Falls
Well, it’s beyond time to see what my favorite part of the Mt Hood NF is looking like. I went to Fall Creek 7 years ago and can report that not much has changed. I will say the “trail” is in much better shape. We parked at the NF Clack gate and walked the old road grade back. There is a point where ...
