Elowah & Upper McCord Creek Falls - 11/18/2022
I'd read some conflicting reports online of the current trail conditions in light of landslide damage, so I was excited to find the trail was clear to both Upper McCord Creek and Elowah Falls. There is a log crossing near Elowah Falls that's a little dicey, but I'm not sure it's related to the slide...

Thanks so much! I agree, hiking down and out of Zig Zag Canyon is definitely a challenge, especially on the way back!

Paradise Park from Timberline Lodge - 8/12/2022
We had a great time hiking to Paradise Park from Timberline Lodge on 8/12. Many wildflowers were blooming in the meadows, including lupine, paintbrush, asters, and heather. I love the numerous views of Mount Hood above the wildflower meadows that this route provides :D . The mountain looks enormous ...

Wow, that's cool! It is a small world
. Good to know about the boards in the marshy area when the water is higher!

Mirror Lake 8/07/22
We had a great trip to Mirror Lake in early August. It was 10-15 degrees cooler in the area than in Portland, and wading in the lake was another welcome respite from the heat :D . The water was chilly, but not too cold to cool off. The trail was in good condition, though there's a section along the ...

Punch Bowl Falls 8/05/22
We hiked down to Punch Bowl Falls earlier this month. The hike and the waterfall were beautiful! It's definitely a bit of a scramble at the end over rocks and logs in light of some landslide damage, but we were able to climb over the rocks and get a great view of the falls from below. Since the Eagl...

McKenzie River Trail - Koosah Falls, Sahalie Falls, Clear Lake, and Blue Pool
We camped at Ice Cap Campground a couple weeks ago and day hiked sections of the McKenzie River Trail each day. It was a very rainy weekend, so camping was a bit of an adventure, but it was great to be right on the trail to minimize driving. The first day we hiked north from the campground to Koosah...

Re: McKenzie River Trail and Santiam Wagon Road Trail
Thanks for sharing! We did some hiking along the McKenzie River Trail as well a few weeks ago. So beautiful. I didn't know about the Santiam Wagon Road, though; thanks for mentioning that. Looking forward to exploring it sometime!
