Re: Scat question.
Maybe coyote. Seemed like it was bigger than usual. It was in the trail. There was a smaller one further up that was also in the trail. There were too many leaves to see any tracks.

Scat question.
Saw this scat on the Green Mountain trail in Camas. Right in the middle of the trail. ID help appreciated.

11-3-23 Clear Creek trail 487
We started from Clear Creek Campground, crossed the creek on a bridge and followed the trail downstream. There were a couple of boggy spots along the creek. The trail then veers away from the creek and climbs up to near Camas Prairie There is a road here. We went west on a section of road that is cl...

10-29-23 Blue Box Trail in the snow
After hearing about some snow near Government Camp, the dog and I decided on a snow trip. Roads were clear and the parking lot at Frog Lake had been plowed, although it probably would have melted on its own. We started on the PCT and went across Highway 26 and followed the PCT until the Blue Box tra...

10-21-23 Monte Cristo Trail 53 from North.
It was a long drive but very nice and relaxing up to Trout Lakes and then to the trailhead. Beautiful scenery on the way. The forest roads in this area were in very nice condition. There was a sign about 1/4 mile or so before the trailhead stating that the road was narrow and rocky with no room for ...

Summit Springs 10-27-23
I followed the trail to the quarry as described in the field guide. I have passed this trail many times, but wasn't sure if it was worth going to. It was a pleasant surprise. The trail was in great shape and the road from Sunset Falls campground was also really good. We had the trail to ourselves ex...

Castle Ridge Trail 216G to Loowit 7-14-23
We went to the Castle Ridge Trail on Friday. We drove about 23 miles on Weyerhaeuser and WA DNR roads to get to the beginning. If you can't stomach a working tree farm, this drive is not for you. There were different stages of mature trees and freshly cut areas. At the trailhead there was an option ...

Pine Creek - Mount St. Helens Lahar
We went up the Mount St. Helens Lahar. We started from a wide shoulder just west of the bridge before the Ape Canyon trailhead. There is a short path here to an exhibit that was placed years ago and seems to be on the 'let it fade away' list. There is a nice trail here that heads north and then turn...

Re: June Lake, MSH, 6/18/2023
Thanks for the trail report. FR 83 is now open. I noticed a sign at the June Lake turnoff that limits vehicle parking to 48 hours. And not to use the June Lake TH for backpacking the Loowit trail.
