Re: Indian Creek Fire -- Wahtum Lake closure

They are dipping from Wahtum Lake so don't plan to get water from there. It's not far from Indian Springs anyway. And I think there will be firefighters at the lake, so don't sneak around.
12 miles is quite do-able between water sources. You can do it!

Re: unofficial trail maintenance etiquette?

It's really annoying to have to re-cut logs after someone did a crappy job of cutting them. Sometimes it's more difficult to re-cut. There have been times when it was significantly more dangerous to do the proper cutting after someone cut logs inappropriately. I'm thinking of a root-wad on the switc...

Re: Herman Creek ravens?

We had the same problem at Wahkeena Falls trailhead a few years ago when doing a multi-day work project.

Re: Eagle Creek Trail Cleanup/Tish Creek Bridge Feb 21-24 20

We put in 4 days of trail work to make the trail passable, so that this bridge could be installed. It was really hard work! We cleared 18 logs. Left some logs that were still frozen in snow or too big for the small saw we brought. All of the logs left were easy to cross as of Friday. 18 volunteers w...

Re: Eagle Creek Trail Cleanup/Tish Creek Bridge Feb 21-24 20

Day 2 (Feb 22) went well. We had better weather - even some sunshine. We've improved about 1.4 miles of trail so far. We're scraping a walking path through the snow. It would still be best to wait before coming to visit. Still highly recommend traction devices on your boots. More pictures from photo...

Eagle Creek Trail Cleanup/Tish Creek Bridge Feb 21-24 2017

Mt Hood Chapter PCTA worked to clean up the Eagle Creek Trail today, work will continue through Friday. Today's crew cleared about a half-mile of trail, and cleared the rock/mud load on the first little bridge near the trailhead. We're doing this so the contractor can hike to Tish Creek to do the gr...

Re: Eagle Creek Trail repairs

Good to hear that there's interest in helping.
As of this morning, all four crews are filled (and overfilled).
There will be more crews. We think this has been another hard winter.

Re: Eagle Creek Trail repairs

Mt Hood Chapter PCTA has adopted the trail. We do regular maintenance on it. We're leading crews this Tuesday 2/21, Wednesday 2/22, Thursday 2/23, Friday 2/24. These will have 4 single day work trips, however, you can sign up for any one day or multiple days. Most of our crews we recruit through our...

Re: PCT to Benson Plateau

Logs were cleared on Saturday 10/29/16 by a volunteer PCTA crew. One overhanging log was limbed and left about 9 feet above the tread. We'll see if it chooses to drop over the winter.

Re: PCT to Benson Plateau

We have a crew working there on Saturday, posting signs and clearing logs. We passed this info on to them.
Thanks!
