Table Rock Wilderness -- burn zone

Hello, https://www.google.com/maps/@44.9468672,-122.4200726,12z/data=!4m3!15m2!1m1!1s%2Fg%2F11k8hp49gn It looks like the Table Rock Wilderness is contained in the burn zone near where the Beachie Creek and Riverside fires join. Seems like not many people are familiar with the area. https://www.blm.g...

Re: Paradise Park -- High Viewpoint

I went down the up route. Cross-country options to the northern park looked like a lot of fun, but I was hiking solo and the travel plan I left with my contact only had the trails on it.

Paradise Park -- High Viewpoint

Howdy, Yesterday (Monday, 9/7/20) I left Timberline Lodge ~5am, headed for the viewpoint above Paradise Park. My second goal was to meet up at the north end of the Paradise Park loop with friends who were completing the Timberline Trail. Looking south toward Mt. Jefferson from early on the Paradise ...

Road to Vista Ridge TH??

HI,

What are the roads like getting to the Vista Ridge TH from Lolo Pass and from Hood River? Haven't been there in a while. One of my hiking partners has sedan with not a lot of clearance.

Happy Hiking,

Rob

Re: The Timberline Loop Contrarian

I'm a big fan of counter-clockwise for the Timberline Trail. For me, the whole section (23 miles-ish) from Gnarl Ridge to Ramona Falls is best done CCW. As another person pointed out... the climb from Sandy River to the Paradise Park trail is pretty well shaded, steady (but not too steep), and the t...

Pinnacle Ridge Trail

HI Folks, I spent Saturday on the first two miles of the Pinnacle Ridge trail. Road to the TH is in good shape. I had my pruners in one hand and Silky in the other clearing some of the most intrusive trees/shrubbery. Seems like there are a lot of small (could still be taken down with loppers) trees ...

Re: Black Diamond Neve Strap on Hiking boots?

I have the Black Diamond contact crampons with straps; same as neve but in stainless steel instead of aluminum. They work well on my low-top light hikers. If you have crampons, also consider carrying a light axe or Whippet pole, and know how to self arrest from a variety of orientations (head first ...
