Re: Eagle Creek to Wahtum Lake

Mountainkat, just to clarify, the PCTA crew cleared Eagle Cr? I understand it's a popular alternate, but wasn't aware official PCTA crews cleared it.

Also, thank you very much for the time and effort!

Thank you Robin. I can only dream of writing something half as good.

Re: Adams: The Long Abandoned "Killen Meadows Trail" (New Killen Creek Meadows Loop)

This is great, thank you! This gives me an idea for an exploratory trip next year. I have a deep level of fondness for Killen Cr. as my dad and I would head up that trail each year. Man, getting to High Camp in those days was a real accomplishment. Anyhow, fun fact; I updated OpenStreetMap to includ...

Re: Best (non-iPhone) phone for photos

I would go with a new Galaxy. My buddy has one and the photo's are unreal, along with the 4 or 5 different lenses that it has.

Pixel's have good cameras too (I have an aging 3a), just not the best.

Re: Chenamus Lake-Acker Lake-Placid Lake Loop 9-15-22

Bobcat, I'm pretty sure I saw that Marten (or maybe a relative) a few years back. I had no idea wtf it was, so I'm glad you were able to catch a photo of it! At the time, it was pretty curious and not afraid of me or my dog. I found it rather marvelous, and alas I completely forgot to take a photo o...

Re: All The Way ‘round Mt Adams: 9/2/22-9/4/22

Born2BBrad, that was a terrific report (as always from you), thank you for sharing! Would you be able to update your original post to include the Yakama phone number that you used? I tried searching for it, and only found the Forest Development number; is this what you used? The Mission of the Fores...

Do you have pics of the old sign? that'd be pretty cool to see.

Signs made by volunteer

I never knew how the signs were created, only that I found a deep comfort in their aesthetics and familiarity. I never realized that other areas (such as Nat'l Parks) had switched to metal signs, until I hiked through Mt Rainier on the PCT in 2020. I found that quite jarring, but understood it was l...

Re: This is how you kill someone

I'm a dog owner, and I have two dogs that I have taken with on hikes. They're always leashed and I am always the one to stop and get off the trail so others can pass. I'm always appalled at the behavior of other owners. I also do not like it when dogs are not leashed, and always gives me a bit of an...
