Snow Chains - Noobie
I don't feel comfortable driving to trailheads/snow parks in the snow and need advice on snow chains for my 2007 Toyota Avalon. Looking for an inexpensive option that won't break in 1 season. As my comfort level increases, I might explore more this Winter and go once a week. Can anyone give me advic...

Re: 2019 Snow Level
Hiked McNeil Point from Top Spur Trailhead on 11-23. Snow doesn't really start until 2nd loop. At the shelter, there's about 1' of snow. Climbed further up and most of the hike was covered in approx. 1'-1'6" of snow. Looked like the sun still got to the most exposed areas but much of it has stayed i...

Re: Animal tracks?
Wish I had taken more time to capture a better pic but I was tired and trying to beat sunset. Tracks weren't there on my climb up, only the descent. I'll post 2 more pics I took from my video clips. I unfortunately doubt it will confirm anyone's beliefs but oh well. There was a thin layer of soft ic...

Animal tracks?
Hiked up McNeil Point 11-24-19 and saw some strange tracks in the fresh snow. Not sure if they're animal tracks honestly. Any idea what made these?

Izzy and I on our way to Elk Meadows. I carried her on a log for the stream crossing and we took our sweet time to the top.

Re: McNeil Point - Mt Hood
Sure was the Upper pond within the meadow area. The left side of that loop was my favorite part of the hike. The snow was hardpacked with a icy shell. First time using microspikes and they worked great.

McNeil Point - Mt Hood
Took a trip this past Saturday, 10-26-19 to Top Spur Trailhead and climbed McNeil Point and did the full loop. Weather forecast showed sunny skies leading to the big day but the forecast changed on Friday and showed overcast. I decided to continue with my plan. Microspikes really helped me on the lo...
