Re: Gemstone ID
You can sometimes find amethyst in the vicinity of shellrock mountain in in the gorge, but that's the only Oregon locality I know of. (https://www.mindat.org/loc-131393.html) Interestingly enough this piece looks like it was placed there since it hardly looks water-worn. It's possible to find quartz...

Re: Mabee Mines
I actually went and checked out a couple of the skamania mines by the west fork washougal river. Stuart and horseshoe lake
I should've posted this earlier did this trip about a week ago (10/3-4/20). I backpacked to Stuart lake and then dayhiked up to the lesser-known horseshoe lake. I'd gotten into Leavenworth late the night before and camped at Bridge creek CG. The Colchuck trailhead was predictably crowded, I ended up...

Re: Lamberson Butte new addition
Wait wait guys we have to coordinate. If one seismometer registers stomping it gets discounted as an anomaly. If we each go to a different seismometer and we all stomp at the same time it will register a quake! No I actually do support installing these seismometers, and I don't think it's too ...
