Another Sat imaging artifact?
Yeah, whatever it is, it isn't on the ground. Either a weird artifact or something that was flying below the camera. (We say "satellite" photos, but imagery of this resolution only comes from aircraft.)

Re: Coyote Wall and other bike trails

I hiked the Mosier Plateau trail again recently and I was reminded why I don't go often: the obvious place where everyone wants walk along the cliff is carefully marked off limits. I respected the closure though the well beaten path makes it clear a lot of others do not. That particular closure cla...

Heck, I don't think I've ever entered MRNP later than 7am.
If I'm going to Paradise, I try to get in pretty early, but 7:00 is brutal unless I'm spending the night nearby.

Re: Mt Rainier Timed Entry Permits

A few key points to take note of; quotes are from their FAQ : "If you enter the park by vehicle before 7 am or after 3 pm, you do not need a reservation." (If you're coming from Portland, this means getting on the road by 4 am. Personally, I'd recommend spending the night on Skate Creek Road .) "The...

I wonder why people post something like that. No links to other websites or anything...

Re: Small purple flowers

How can we be so much further north and yet have spring happening so much earlier!? Evolution and climate are fascinating. The Pacific Ocean. The USDA "zones," which tell you which plants your area supports and when to put them in the ground, are based entirely on minimum temperature, not average o...

Re: Small purple flowers

It isn't abnormally early for snow queen.

(And the first flowers in the eastern Gorge usually start around New Year's Day.)
