Marmots in MH Meadows
Went for an out-and-back from Timberline Lodge to Newton Creek yesterday and spotted 2 yellow-bellied marmots right off trail, about mid-way through the Mt Hood meadows! Been to this section of Timberline Trail loads of times and never seen or heard them! Went past a couple hikers with unleashed dog...

Re: Breweries
The Labrewtory in Portland is where I go when I want to be adventurous. The brewery acts as a showroom for a brewing equiptment co., where most of their revenue comes from, and the taproom is an add-on business where the brewers have the liberty to go crazy with experimental beers. If you end up nea...

Govt Shutdown Impact Updates (and ? about Nordic Shelters)
So with the Government Shutdown, ranger stations and usfs services are not operating. Has anyone noticed shutdown impacts that others should be aware of before heading out? ALSO. Does someone know when USFS annually stocks firewood at the Nordic shelters? Realizing now that it's possible they didn't...

Re: Going to Devils Peak Lookout soon (what does it need?)
Looks like they killed a cougar the other day in the vicinity of the attack. If they drop the closure by next week, I'll be going up there.

OCT, Bandon to Port O, 8/6/18-8/8
Short and sweet (and much belated) report on the Oregon Coast Trail's most remote section. Pertinant info I didn't find elsewhere online: 1. There is no easy to access, reliable freshwater available that we found. The stretch from Bandon to Floras is a long dry spell (14mi I believe). Of the few nat...

Going to Devils Peak Lookout soon (what does it need?)
I'll be going with a few other friends and staying a couple nights at the lookout. Anyone been up there recently? Could it use any basic repair, certain supplies, etc?

Bull of the Woods: Bagby->Twin Lakes->(Almost) Lookout
Dates: 6/25-27 Milage (approx.): 36mi Solo Trip Summary: Trail kind of brutal for the distance required to make to Lookout from Bagby. Twin lakes recommended. Day 1: Bagby TH to Twin Lakes. Forest to bagby still among the most captivating lushness I've ever seen. Trail in good shape till just a bit ...

Anyone hiked 3 Sisters Loop recently?
Wondering if anyone can chime in on what the conditions look like around the Sisters at this point? Thanks!
