PS. And yes this Forum is very helpful. I've just registered but already gathered a lot of info from the past posts and a few questions I raised.

@adamschneider
Good to hear that. Thank you!

@VanMarmot
I wanna give you a hug. This really help narrow down my search :) Thank you so much.
Why Klamath Falls? Its something that appears on some sites as attractions and it's only not far south of the lake so I thought I might as well visit.

Re: Another Aussie visiting soon !

Hi Nick! Awesome! It'll great to hear about your travels! I'm sure you'll get no shortage of suggestions while you're in town but I'll but in a plug for getting up to Johnson Ridge Observatory at Mt St Helens as a "can't get anywhere else" experience. While out in Tillamook, Cape Falcon (Oswald Wes...

Crater Lake & Klamath Falls Suggestions Needed

Hi ! I'm visiting in September. I've heard about Crater Lake and seen the beautiful photos from there. I wanna see it with my own eyes. I'm planning to spend 1 week around Crater Lake and if it's possible I'd like to visit Klamath Falls. I looked up some places where I could base around there and co...

Re: the hole story

I've seen some of these too, and they don't look natural to my uneducated eye. The ones I noticed were in steeper areas I think so I thought they might be some kind of rock anchor used during USGS surveying. If they are in flat areas maybe mineral sampling? How are those USGS Survey Markers install...

Re: Hiking, survival, all around utility

I bought a small hunting knife in Thailand a few years back and I've been using it for everything. A Swiss Army Knife Ranger Grip is always tucked in the corner of my backpack as a backup plan.

Re: Visiting from Australia - Timberline Trail

Heyyy another Aussie here. :)
I've been living here and there and rarely home in the past few years. Haven't get to go back to Tassie yet. My first time was visiting dad's mate in Hobart when I was little. Now I got Overland Track on top 10 of my list. 8-)
