Re: Green Mountain, Clark Co.

Thanks, Don. It has been really exciting to see two public access points blossom recently. I first tried to access Green Mountain through the golf course that used to be there. I called the club house the night before and got verbal permission to cross their lands. But when I showed up on a Saturday...

Re: USFS oppression marches on with proposed high-Hood permit

I believe there were even older promises made when the Forest Service was created that Big Bear is referring to. Back in the day, you could build a house on Federally owned lands and live in it. Or build a house, turn it into a hotel, and demand payment for access to your land. This created some pro...

Re: Silver Star conditions?

Subarus are still able to make it up Road 4109. Some of the difficult parts remain difficult, but a most of our repairs from last year held up through the winter.

Re: USFS oppression marches on with proposed high-Hood permit

There was a guy in the past two weeks who slid down several hundred feet. There were a ton of people who helped him at the place he stopped until SAR got there to take him down. Reducing the number of people on the mountain might reduce accidents, but it will also reduce the number of people who can...

Re: North Hells Canyon: 6/1/22-6/2/22

So, who is getting tired of my long-winded Hells Canyon trip reports? I’m not tired of finding new places there and more plans are in the works. It’s a large, remote area that doesn’t get many detailed status reports, so somebody has to do it. I know that I'm not getting tired of your trail reports...

Re: West Green Mountain Trail

Thanks for the pictures, Don. I'm glad it was an enjoyable trip for you. There is an access to the east side off of NE 28th Street through land that belongs to Camas Public Schools. I updated Open Street Map to show some of the trails over there. Goodwin Road turns into NE 28th Street. Continue East...

West Green Mountain Trail

Yesterday I hiked a trail that is under construction. Green Mountain is the little Boring Lava Volcano just north of Camas. The city of Camas recently acquired land on the West side of the mountain, bordering Clark County's land to the East. When the former Green Mountain golf course just SW of the ...
