smoke?
I'll be up in the Bend area in a couple weeks. I was wondering if there were any air quality or visibility issues there or towards Broken Top? Any kind of wildfire-related restrictions in the area? Things could obviously calm down a bit between then and now (or worsen), but I just thought I'd ask.

Re: Broken Top trail head from NF310/380
Great pictures! This place is way more packed on a normal weekend than I would have imagined. A holiday weekend must be insane. Everyone just heading for No Name Lake? Something I just realized it that there is no snow in your pictures. Is there any left anywhere along the way (I'm guessing there is...

Re: Broken Top trail head from NF310/380
I just called the Deschutes NF customer service line. Apparently a Honda Civic just made that trek. Insane. The truck I take should be fine.

Broken Top trail head from NF310/380
Hoping to get up to No Name Lake over Labor Day Weekend from the BT Trail head. How are NF-370 and 380 looking now? Good enough for an F150 to get through?
Google Maps isn't labeling it as closed, so I'm taking that as a positive.

Re: Broken Top from Broken Top trail head
Another quick question regarding the lake...I've seen pictures of people floating in it. Are they polar plunge candidates or is it somehow a reasonable temperature?

Re: Broken Top from Broken Top trail head
As for the last pitch up the summit block: Go around to the left as you approach (north side) and it's a fairly straightforward scramble. Loose in spots but not really that steep. As Adamschneider helped me realize, my target is not actually the summit, but simply No Name Lake and the crest just No...

Re: Broken Top from Broken Top trail head
Bad road (the quality doesn't bother me as long as I can drive it in a pickup), but the hike is much shorter? I want to use this trail because a 12 mile hike is just beyond our capabilities right now. It's about 12 miles to the summit no matter which trailhead you use. The Broken Top and 370/380 tr...

Re: Broken Top from Broken Top trail head
I have seen that parking area on Google Maps and in some youtube videos. That is part of what gives me encouragement because there are a few cars there. I'd love anything you have of that area! I'm trying to do as much research on this as the internet will allow. Right now, it is sounding like all ...

Re: Broken Top from Broken Top trail head
Granted, the road leaves something to be desired but still can be driven in a car with at least a little clearance. I've driven it in an old Chevy Astro van with no problems. The distance one-way is only 6/10 mile longer, more-or-less but about 1,000' EG less from the south side TH and that TH is s...

Re: Broken Top from Broken Top trail head
No, the Green Lakes Trailhead is three miles west of Todd Lake. Here's a map: https://graphhopper.com/maps/?point=44.031,-121.7364&point=44.08297,-121.699387&vehicle=foot&use_miles=true&layer=TF+Outdoors Why are you so hell-bent on using the Broken Top Trailhead? It means a horrible road and a long...
